Why 1976 Matters
The Immigration Act of 1976 transformed Canada’s immigration system. It introduced family reunification, refugee protection, and a non-discriminatory points system—foundations that continue to shape our nation today.
Fifty years later, we honor the journeys, contributions, and resilience of newcomers who helped build the Canada we share.

Across Oceans:
Objects That Travel
Selected artifacts from the Toronto Asian Art Museum collection will be featured digitally to reflect journeys of migration across oceans and their place in Canada’s shared heritage.

Your Story.
Our Shared Future.
Every story connects us. Every voice matters.
We invite you to share your journey of immigration, heritage, and belonging.
